Bye Bye Bansko It’s Time to Get Hungary

The last two weeks have been full after spending time with digital nomads at gatherings in both Romania + Bulgaria. The second being the Bansko Nomad Fest, where afterwards I left for country number 28!

Back to Bansko…what is this little town? If you’re Canadian, I could compare the population to Comox, on Vancouver Island with an added ski hill. It doesn’t have a whole lot going forward in terms of a bustling mini town, however as their main season is focused around the ski hill, it’s left the summers open for a mini second season - digital nomads. Nestled in the mountains of Bulgaria, it creates a cozy, authentic, quiet + naturesque environment great for international folks visiting to connect with one another.

Getting to + from Bansko is a bit of a logistically dilemma with buses only running in the mornings. I managed to find a local taxi alongside two other digital nomads from a Bansko group chat to split the €80 taxi from Bansko back to the capital Sofia.

I stayed at the same Airbnb city centre I had stayed at a few weeks ago, to prep for an early morning flight. When searching flights affordability is likely your number 1 filter or determining factor, however don’t forget to think about how you’re getting to + from the airports + how you want to spend your day.

Platforms like kiwi.com are great for research + then booking directly with the airline to avoid the middleman. For me an early morning flight from Sofia was the best option to arrive in COUNTRY #28 HUNGARY!

WELCOME TO BUDAPEST

This week I’ve been working out of a local coworking space, took one of the best walking tours I’ve ever been on to see the major cities of Budapest via the walking tour platform I always trust - Guru Walks.

The food scene has been an extremely pleasant surprise, the city is super clean + visiting in summer time has the added bonus of very lush parks + greenery. Outside of that it’s been taking it slow to rest after spending the last 2 weeks with way more people than I’m used to.

P.s. don’t forget to book your accommodations for summer holidays ANYWHERE as choices will disappear quickly
